Mrs. Mayre Herring-Thompson
Greetings Broward County Rattlers,
I am deeply honored and proud to serve as President of the Broward County Chapter of the FAMU National Alumni Association. As a Life Member of the National Alumni Association, a proud second-generation Rattler, and a two-time graduate of Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University.
FAMU was instrumental in shaping the leader I am today. It instilled in me the values of resilience, networking, professionalism, and hard work. These values have guided me throughout my career and helped forge lifelong bonds with my fellow Rattlers.
I envision the next three years as a dynamic opportunity to elevate our chapter’s legacy of excellence. Coming off the momentum of being named the 2025 Chapter of the Year by the Florida Region, we will align our goals with the National Alumni Association’s F.R.I.G. initiative – Fundraising, Recruitment, Image Building, and Government Relations.
Together, this administration will lead with an E.P.I.C. vision:
Engaging – We will inform, connect, and inspire alumni to grow our chapter, increase student recruitment, drive fundraising, and host events that reflect the pride and spirit of our beloved FAMU.
Inclusive – We will foster an environment where every member feels welcomed, valued, and empowered, because every voice matters and every contribution strengthens our mission.
Partners – We will cultivate partnerships with corporate sponsors, local organizations, and key stakeholders to expand our impact. This will allow us to raise scholarship funds and mobilize resources to support the university and students.
Clear – We will operate with transparency and accountability. Keeping members informed, involved, and engaged in the business of the chapter and our shared progress.
Our purpose is clear: to build upon a legacy of pride, impact, and “Excellence with Caring”. Together, with your ideas, energy, and support, we will move this chapter forward, motivated, excited, and united by our love for FAMU.
